For our department Mathematical Modelling of Cellular Processes we are looking for one Postdoc Position in Mathematical Modeling in Cancer.

We are offering a postdoc position for mathematical modelling with a focus on signal transduction and gene expression in cancer.

Description
The project will be embedded in the group Mathematical Modelling of Cellular Processes and experimental cancer research at the Max Delbrück Center. It will focus on model development and investigation of signaling pathways including the analysis and use of cell biological and omics data. The aim is the understanding of the network design and implications of disease states as a basis for effective inhibitors and rational therapies. Teaching and advising graduate students will be part of the duties and responsibilities.

Requirements
The preferred applicant holds a master and PhD in relevant fields such as biophysics, biomathematics, physics, mathematics, systems biology or engineering and has a strong background in cell biology or biochemistry. The applicant is expected to have experience in modelling of biological systems which led to publications in relevant journals. Solid knowledge of mathematical modelling by ordinary differential equations and data processing as well as programming skills in MATLAB, Mathematica, R or Python are requirements. Ideally, the applicant is already experienced in collaborating with biologists or clinicians.
The Berlin-based Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association is one of the world-leading research institutes for molecular biology and genetics, with a focus on translational approaches to develop treatments for neurological diseases, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and metabolic diseases. The MDC represents a lively and competitive research environment and offers a large variety of cutting-edge technologies in the life sciences. Access to high performance compute clusters is given.


The contract will be for 3 years with the possibility of extension. Salary is according to the German TVöD E 13 (Bund). Entry date is May 1st, 2019 or later.
