Salary: Grade 8: £40,792 - £48,677 with a discretionary range to £53,174 p.a.

Applications are invited for an experienced Software Developer to join High-Throughput Genomics, at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.

Your role will be focussed on re-designing, implementing and supporting our key internal systems that manage customer projects, workflows and data pipelines. You will work with others to roll out bespoke software packages to work with the Salesforce customer record management (CRM) and Clarity laboratory information management system (LIMS), including end user training and support. You will be responsible for maintaining existing views and building new front end user interfaces to interact with Clarity and Salesforce. You will liaise closely with bioinformaticians to help automate downstream data processing and analysis pipelines from information in Clarity.

You will be comfortable with writing well-structured code and be able to demonstrate solid experience of using good software development principles, particularly with regard to source control, testing and documentation. You will have experience of at least one high level programming language, preferably Python, as well as Linux systems and shell scripting. A good working knowledge of relational database management systems (preferably PostgreSQL) and knowledge of modern web standards (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) is expected. You will have experience of distributed revision control systems, such as Git. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, to deliver complete solutions.

This position is fixed-term until 30 November 2021 in the first instance and funded by a revenue from the High-Throughput Genomics service business plan.
