ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE/FULL SPECIALIST IN ATOMIC FORCE MICROSCOPY AND/OR CELL BIOLOGY (2 positions available)
Specialist positions available with level of appointment dependent on qualifications and experience in the Murphy-Russell-Thomasy lab (https://mrtvisionsciences.com/). Start date negotiable; Spring/summer 2019 preferred. PhD in biological sciences, bioengineering or materials science and record of publication in scientific journals are required. For the AFM position, extensive experience with atomic force microscopy (AFM) is required. Experience in measurement of biological tissues also necessary and specialized. Knowledge of Igor and the Asylum AFM preferred. Knowledge of biomaterials preferred. For the cell biology position, experience in molecular biology techniques and primary cell culture required. Detailed knowledge of cell signaling required. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere. Experience mentoring undergraduates to perform laboratory skills preferred. Grant writing experience preferred. Current projects investigate how changes in the compliance of the extracellular matrix influences cell compliance and how consequently a change in the cellular cytoskeleton leads to changes in the extracellular matrix. Collaborate with Principal Investigators in planning of project research goals and methods. Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals, books and other outlets in collaboration with the PIs or other members of the research team.
