The Lee Lab For Molecular Genetics of Chronic Inflammation and Allergic Disease at the Max Delbrück Centrum for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin is seeking one
fellow in human genetics/genomics/bioinformatics
The Lee lab studies how genetic variation affects the risk for allergic diseases, such as eczema, food allergy and asthma. We integrate next-generation sequence data, epigenetic and clinical data to uncover the underlying biology of disease development in large study cohorts with the ultimate goal to apply that knowledge to improve health care. We are seeking an outstanding postdoctoral research fellow with a background in human genetics, genomics or bioinformatics with an interest in studying complex allergic diseases. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within an international and multidisciplinary research team to address scientific questions. The MDC for Molecular Medicine is a biomedical research institute dedicated to interdisciplinary health research. As a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers, the MDC is funded by the Federal Government of Germany and the Senate of Berlin.
- Ph.D. in human genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, biology or related field, with publications in peer reviewed journals
- proficient in human genetics, demonstrated ability to interpret genetic associations of common diseases and design and carry out experimental procedures to investigate underlying molecular mechanisms
- quantitative analytical skills and familiarity with common bioinformatics databases, resources and tools to generate and follow up testable genetic hypotheses
- team working skills to address scientific questions; excellent communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and international colleagues
The initial contract will be for a three years period, with the option of extension. Salary is according to the German TVöD E 13 (Bund).
The MDC is an equal opportunity employer and supports gender equality. The MDC is committed to raising the proportion of women in science and technology; we thus strongly encourage female researchers and specialists to apply.
