Assistant/Associate Professor in Integrative Virus-Host Bioinformatics (salary scale W1- W2)
The position will be available from 1/7/2019. If appointed at the associate professor level, the successful candidate will be offered an initial contract for five years, with the possibility of extension following a successful external evaluation. Assistant professors will be offered an initial contract for 3 years can be extended for another 3 years following a successful external evaluation.
We are looking for an individual with a proven research track record in bioinformatics and viral systems biology. The research of the applicant should involve the utilization of multi-dimensional data sets (OMICs data) for the identification of virus and host factors that control susceptibility to infections.
Applicants should be able to complement the research programme of the Institute of Experimental Virology at TWINCORE, contribute to the research program of the RESIST cluster of excellence and participate in one or several of the collaborative research centres (CRC; “Sonderforschungsbereiche”), directed by Hannover Medical School (MHH), in particular CRC 900 (“Chronic Infections: Microbial Persistence and its Control”) and the research programmes of the German Centre of Infection Research.
Applicants are expected to have a very good publication record, to have been successful in winning competitive research grants and to have experience in teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level. The successful applicant should become involved in the MHH undergraduate course in medicine (HannibaL), as well as in MSc courses and structured doctoral programmes.
