A two-year position as Senior Research Associates in Epidemiology or Medical Statistics is available in the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit (MRC IEU) within Population Health Sciences in the Bristol Medical School, one of the leading centres for Epidemiology in the UK. The post is to study the role that childhood obesity plays in shaping socioeconomic outcomes (e.g. educational attainment, income, employment).

This senior research associate post will join a multidisciplinary team to work on an ambitious project that will:
1. Explore how the effects of BMI on socioeconomic outcomes vary across the life course and across cohorts.
2. Apply causal inference methods (Mendelian Randomization) to examine the causal links between childhood BMI and socioeconomic outcomes.
Opportunities for continued training and career development are available, including the short courses run by the Population Health Sciences department, the University of Bristol staff development programme, and various book clubs, journal clubs and special interest discussion groups.

You will have expertise in medical statistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline (with strong statistical skills). The post is co-funded by the Health Foundation and the UK Medical Research Council, with funding available for two years.
