Applications are invited for a three year position as Researcher in fat regulation/cellular stress to be based at the Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo, in the research group of Professor Rafal Ciosk.

The candidate for this position will have interest in molecular mechanisms regulating body fat and/or stress adaptation, using the nematode C. elegans and mammalian cells as models. The project will involve creating and analysing mutants, generating transgenic animals and analysing them with molecular, cellular and biochemical tools. Mammalian cells will be used for examining conservation and in forward screens.

Qualification requirements

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.

Qualification requirements
The candidate must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in molecular biology, genetics, cell biology or biochemistry. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date. Appointment is dependent on the public defense of the doctoral thesis being approved.

Preferred candidates should have
Experience in at least two of the following areas: molecular genetics, biochemistry, cell biology and imaging. Hands-on experience with genetic models, preferably C. elegans, and cell culture, will be favored
Demonstrated independence and competitive publication track record
Fluent oral and written communication skills in English

Personal skills
We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and diligent candidate, with the ambition to gain new insights and publish in leading journals. A successful candidate must have good interpersonal skills and be willing to work with the project PI, lab members and collaborators.
