As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.
The Institute of Translational Genomics (ITG) focusses on translating insights from genomics into mechanisms of disease development and progression. At ITG, we leverage big data in genetics and genomics to gain insights into the mechanisms underpinning human health and disease. We work with biobank-sized whole-genome sequencing datasets, in combination with high-dimensional phenotypic and multi-omics data.

Job DescriptionProvide proactive, high quality and effective executive, organisational and scientific assistance to the Institute Director and team leaders in the delivery of their scientific programmes and leadership responsibilities (grant applications, reviews, annual reports)Assist in the planning and coordination of the Institute activities as well as correspondence, documentation and management of general processes for the Institute Provide effective coordination and collaboration with the Centre’s main business areas, core facilities and management operationsProvide effective support by obtaining, managing and maintaining appropriate ethical approvals, materials transfer agreements and research collaboration agreements in collaboration with the central legal team and othersMonitor and report regularly third-party project budgets and staffing (liaising with Finance over financial cost recording and reporting and with HR regarding staff appointments)Coordinate the development and maintenance of up-to-date web presence by writing and soliciting content regarding the Institute, its activities, partnerships and scientific outputs (in collaboration with internal specialist departments)Support and manage the relationships between the Institute and key internal and external partners and other stakeholders, by providing responsive communication, researching and disseminating responses/information
