The Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Haifa
is seeking six new faculty members in the areas of computational biology,
quantitative biology, and biophysics – to build a new department in the frame
of an exciting collaboration between East China Normal University (ECNU) in
Shanghai and the University of Haifa.
The ideal candidates would work in one of the aforementioned
fields, particularly in subjects such as functional/medical genomics,
evolutionary genomics, structural bioinformatics or modeling, molecular
simulations, system biology, quantitative biophysics, or computational
neurobiology. Candidates should have a background combining biological training
with analytical skills, and will be required to train graduate students in
computational biology / biophysics and teach relevant courses.
Each recruited scientist will receive a joint tenure-track
faculty position (PI) in ECNU and the University of Haifa, and will be an
employee of both. The hired PIs are expected to base their research labs during
the first four to five years at ECNU. They will receive generous startup
funding, spacious laboratories in a new modern research facility, and funding
for International PhD students and post-docs. Following this initial phase,
successful faculty members will receive tenure at one or both institutions (
University of Haifa and / or at ECNU) with appropriate lab space in the
institution(s) of choice.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to build
