Postdoctoral Research Associate Position Available - University of Illinois at Chicago

Chicago, IL, United States

The Mo Lab in the Department of Pharmacology at University
of Illinois at Chicago (http://mcph.uic.edu/mo/) welcomes applications from
enthusiastic and independent researchers with a PhD in bioengineering,
biochemistry, molecular biology or related fields. The signaling in interfacial
and regenerative cell types is crucial given the role they play in forming,
informing and transforming other cell types. The localized nature of some of
these signaling processes have only recently been directly observed. The long-term
goal of the lab is to dissect other examples of compartmentalized biochemistry,
by visualizing them directly in living systems to dissect their contribution to
disease, immunity, and regeneration. This require adaptable technology
platforms that can be deployed effortlessly to intersect with known signaling
pathways. A successful postdoctoral fellow will have demonstrated through
publications his/her unique background, and utilize the same to explore new
designs avenues from the molecular scale. He/she will synthesize and evaluate
the capability of a novel platform to quantitatively measure localized
enzymatic activity in living cells over time. The candidate must demonstrate
significant experience and biophysical knowledge for live specimen imaging not
only in conventional epi-fluorescence, TIRF, and confocal, but also advanced
methods such as super-resolution, two-photon, photoacoustic, and/or lattice
light sheet microscopy. They are also expected to be familiar with the current
programming landscape, fluent with lingua franca platforms such as ImageJ,
LabView, Java, C, R, and/or Matlab to construct custom programs and automation
appropriate for new modalities. Basic molecular biology techniques such as
cloning, protein purification, Western blotting and immunoprecipitation and
immunofluorescence will be a plus, as well as experience in conventional
biosensing such as FRET and single channel biosensors. The University of Illinois at Chicago is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action
employer. Minorities, women, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged
to apply.
