The Department of Epidemiology, Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Hillman Cancer Center (UPMC HCC) are jointly pleased to announce two exciting new faculty positions in the area of molecular epidemiology in cancer. With the strong support and commitment of the UPMC HCC Director, we are vigorously recruiting faculty in cancer epidemiology. These two open-rank (at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) tenure-track positions will be for faculty members whose research will be discovering and validating biomarkers for cancer-forming viruses, environmental exposures, and genetic and genomic determinants related to the development and prognosis of cancer.
Candidates should have a PhD in epidemiology or an MD with a master degree in public health (MPH) with post-doctoral training molecular experience. The candidates shall have experience in the conduct and analysis of large population-based epidemiological studies with a track record of publications. Of particular interest are candidates who bring expertise in novel risk assessment methodologies applied to cancer epidemiology and prevention. These may include techniques in microbiology (including microbiome), biochemistry, environmental sciences, genetics, genomics or immunology. The successful candidates will be expected to either have, or develop, a vibrant extramurally funded research program. Successful candidates will also develop coursework on advanced methods in biomarker identification and/or the molecular epidemiology of cancer, and mentor graduate students and post-doctoral fellows as well as junior faculty members within the cancer epidemiology and prevention program. The faculty candidates will also have opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary activities of the UPMC HCC and collaborate with community and behavioral scientists, clinicians, epidemiologists, molecular scientists and basic scientists in the Graduate School of Public Health, and other schools at the University of Pittsburgh.
These two positions are in the tenure stream and available immediately. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applications will be reviewed until the positions are filled.
