Your Job:

Planning of the data transfer from the German Weather Service to the Research Centre Jülich Design and realisation of data storage and use concepts Optimisation of data staging on and between the high performance compute systems of JSC Exploration of new concepts and softwaretools for managing data and monitoring data flow Development and implementation of software tools for cataloging and extraction of data subsets Support team members in research data management and in the performance optimisation of data staging Support the team in the education of master and doctoral students in the area of research data management Representation of the team at relevant national and international fora on questions of research data management Support the operation of data services in the Federated Systems and Data division of JSC

Your Profile:

bachelor degree (or higher) from a university with internationally accepted quality standards in data management, data science, software engineering, or computer science or master degree (or higher) in mathematics or natural science and proven experience in research data management We prefer applicants with experience in the management of large scientific data sets and/or experience with high performance computer systems Experience in software development with Python, C++, or R Knowledge oft he Unix operating system Willingness to cooperate with ESDE team members and to assume an active role in national and international fora on research data management Very good knowledge of English Knowledge of state-of-the-art software development tools (e.g. git, virtualenv)
