Overview

A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the Lacy-Hulbert/Stuart Laboratory in the Department of Immunology. Research in the laboratory focuses on the mechanisms of innate immune recognition of self cells and foreign organisms, and regulation of innate and adaptive immune responses.

Specific projects include studies of the role of macrophages and dendritic cells in regulation of intestinal immunity, mechanisms of phagocytosis, pathogen sensing and antigen presentation, and use of advanced forward genetic screen and bioinformatics techniques to study cellular resistance to viral infection. The successful candidate may work in one or more of these areas, depending on experience and expertise.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include conceptualizing and executing experiments, data analysis, laboratory record keeping, oral and written presentation of experimental results. The research associate will be expected to work collaboratively with other staff members in discussing projects, implementing experiments and preparing manuscripts and grant applications. The position may involve oversight/ supervision of technicians or graduate students.

Requirements

Highly motivated applicants with good organizational and analytical skills are encouraged to apply. A PhD in immunology or a related field (such as host-pathogenesis/microbiology/ virology) is required. Experience/skills in immunology, cell biology and/or molecular biology are required. Experience of animal models of autoimmunity, inflammation or infection is preferable but not essential.

Must have less than 3 years of postdoctoral experience.
