The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a
Professorship (W2) (6 years/tenure track) of Experimental Dermato-Oncology
commencing on 1 April 2019.
The professorship is located at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy at the University Hospital of LMU Munich.
The position will represent the field of Dermato-Oncology as part of Dermatology in academic teaching, research and clinics (optional but advantageous) with national and international visibility. A major focus will be on laboratory and translational research in skin cancer making use of modern molecular “Omics” technologies to address disease-relevant questions including the characterization of molecular characteristics of primary and metastatic skin cancer and molecular mechanisms of therapy resistance. Associated with the position is a possible clinical role in the skin cancer center in close association with the Comprehensive Cancer Center of LMU Munich.
LMU Munich seeks to appoint a highly qualified junior academic to this professorship and, therefore, especially encourages early-career scholars to apply. Prerequisites for this position are a university degree and a doctoral degree or a comparable specific qualification. With an excellent record in research and teaching to date, prospective candidates will have demonstrated the potential for an outstanding academic career.
Further prerequisites are internationally excellent scientific publications in the field of molecular Dermato-Oncology, successful acquisition of external funding and for clinician scientists a board certification in Dermatology and Venereology as well as medical tumor therapy. Of special interest is profound knowledge of modern molecular “Omics” technologies, bioinformatics, molecular pathology and cellular biology.
The initial appointment will be for six years. After a minimum of three years, it can be converted into a permanent position pending a positive evaluation of the candidateís performance in research and teaching as well as his or her personal aptitude and if all legal conditions are met.
