As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.
The Institute of Translational Genomics (ITG) focusses on translating insights from genomics into mechanisms of disease development and progression. At ITG, we leverage big data in genetics and genomics to gain insights into the mechanisms underpinning human health and disease. We work with biobank-sized whole-genome sequencing datasets, in combination with high-dimensional phenotypic and multi-omics data. We seek a Systems Architect/Systems Administrator to join the Analytics arm of our team. Within the Institute, Analytics is in charge of developing smart solutions for addressing data-intensive questions.

Job Descriptionmanage internal resources (scientific software, databases, notebook servers, virtual images)resolve a broad range of technical questions for ITG colleagues (e.g. software installation, job scheduling)manage the Institute's outward-facing presence (web servers, web apps, social media)monitor current storage and processing loadanticipate future needs and take proactive steps to ensure seamless operational interface with our compute facilityas the institute's key point of contact with the Scientific Computing department, you will translate needs into actionable requests and oversee implementation through follow-up and continued interaction
Your Qualificationsrelevant professional diploma or equivalent experienceexperience with administration of large *NIX systemsin-depth knowledge of HPC environments (software and hardware) and job scheduling systems (LSF and/or SLURM)Prior experience or knowledge in containerization (Docker and/or Singularity), workflow languages and/or cloud architectures is desirableservice-orientated, with attention to detail and good communication skills
