An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, enquiring doctor to join the Infectious Diseases team at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust for a 1-year clinical research post. The multidisciplinary ID team is attached to the National Aspergillosis Centre, a world-leading centre for the management and research on fungal infections. The main purpose of the post is to deliver an already funded MRC research project entitled: ‘Point-of-care Tests in the Diagnosis of Chronic and Allergic Aspergillosis’. In addition, you will contribute to the day-to-day clinical work of the ID team including ID inpatient consultations and outpatient ID clinics such as TB, fungal infection and OPAT. You will be expected to undertake audit and teaching in addition to the research duties.
This post will be most suitable for doctors completing CMT training, although doctors post Foundation training will be considered. Salary funding is guaranteed for 1 year and may be extended. A transition to MD or PhD can be considered.
