These lectureships are non-clinical 3 year fixed-term positions, with a support package of a Research Assistant and £75,000 consumables. This is open to candidates who can demonstrate that they are able to build on our existing strengths and additional capacity to our areas of excellence. They offer an early career researcher (ECR) a route to formally enhance their development to group leader and independent roles. The candidate will be asked to provide 6 monthly updates of their research progress, papers and grant application preparation to the Dean for Research and which will be shared on an annual basis with Barts Charity. 

The first two years of the lectureships will be geared to enabling early career researchers to develop their existing research strengths, as well as their next projects, and where possible through inter-disciplinary initiatives, taking advantage of external funding opportunities. There will be opportunity to shape the research agenda of the Faculty including where appropriate, cross-Faculty initiatives. At the end of the second year the Institute Director and Dean for Research will assess if the candidate is to be consolidated into the institute and offered a tenured lectureship or senior lectureship at the end of the 3-year lectureship.

We expect these academics to provide the energy and dynamism for developing new cross-campus research collaborations, including interdisciplinary projects, with the awareness of the opportunities available in external funding initiatives.

There is no limit or restrictions on the area of research, though interests should complement the research strategy of the Faculty ( Applications are particularly welcomed from those with experience of interdisciplinary research who could contribute to the further development of the Faculty’s interdisciplinary links.
