Scientific Project Manager in biomedical AI
The University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is one of Europe’s most modern clinics. Located close to the city center of Hamburg, the UKE fosters interdisciplinary research bridging medicine, basic and applied biomedical research, and teaching. Medical specialists and research scientists closely collaborate to develop and apply state-of-the-art technology to gain novel insights into human pathology and to provide optimal care for our patients.
In order to leverage the most innovative and groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in medicine, we are currently establishing the UKE virtual Center for Biomedical Artificial Intelligence (BAIO). We are now searching for the centerpiece of our efforts, the scientific project manager of the UKE BAIO.
Position and Responsibilities
We are looking for a talented individual with a unique combination of skills, scientific and consultative, who would lead the efforts to establish and manage the BAIO.
Ideally, the project manager is people-oriented and an excellent communicator. He/she will develop the relationships between research groups working in AI, data science, and the medical disciplines at the UKE.
The scientific project manager will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the visibility and public relations of BAIO within the UKE as well as outside of it. She/he will be responsible for the planning and establishment of the web-representation, lectures, courses, and teaching in addition to general scientific outreach.
Furthermore, she/he will lend their scientific expertise to develop and partake in scientific proposals and grants in the fields of AI and digital health. Other areas where the scientific project manager might serve as a facilitator include joint projects, technology transfer, and knowledge transfer with industry. The scientific project manager will be responsible for the completion of proposals, including initial review, response coordination, production, final assembly, and delivery.
PhD in mathematics, computer science, or bioinformatics is preferred. We will consider strong candidates with an MSc in the same disciplines as well as 3-5 years of professional experience.
Good communications skills with researchers, technical teams, and stakeholders with the ability to deliver compelling technical presentations.
Proven writing skills through published scientific articles or proposals applications.
Ability and enthusiasm to learn new concepts and technical skills rapidly.
Knowledge in programming languages and mathematics is a decided plus for people with a biomedical background.
Experience and knowledge in biomedical data analysis is a decided plus for people with computer science or math backgrounds.
Excellent knowledge of English is a prerequisite. Mastering German is a plus.
The job is full time and located in Hamburg-Eppendorf. However, the candidate may have to travel occasionally to attend meetings and conferences.
