Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 with a discretionary range to £43,267 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Molecular Biology to join the Protein Production UK (PPUK) group led by Professor Ray Owens that is based at the Research Complex at Harwell (RCaH) and part of the Structural Biology Division, Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics.

You will join a new team funded by grants to the University of Oxford that is tasked with delivering new synergistic technology platforms to underpin the RFI and provide new capabilities to the user community. These include the development of workflows that will miniaturise the preparation of complex samples for and presentation to the beam in cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM).

You will have a PhD (or close to completion) in biochemistry or related field. You will have practical expertise in the expression and purification of proteins, including using cell-free systems. You will have the ability to work was part of a team as well as independently and have the ability to solve problems using innovating and flexible thinking. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills.

The position is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance (with the possibility of renewing for a further 2 years) and funded by EPSRC.
