Trial Manager

Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

We’re looking for a Trial Manager to join the Oncology Clinical Trials Office (OCTO), as part of a team running a portfolio of early phase clinical trials and studies, in different tumour types and therapeutic areas.


Each Trial Manager is usually responsible for 1 - 3 trials or studies, coordinating activities to ensure on-time, on–target delivery of each in compliance with applicable policies and legislation. The role includes activities such as protocol writing, regulatory/ethics submissions, managing study sites, clinical data management, preparing progress reports, assisting with analysis, maintenance of Trial Master Files.


You must have demonstrable experience of working to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards and be familiar with UK clinical research structures. You should have a degree, or other relevant qualification, in a biomedical or associated subject.


You’ll have project management skills, the ability to work on your own initiative, to problem solve and organise the work of a professional team.


Whilst the role is a Grade 7 position, we are willing to consider candidates with potential but less experience seeking a development opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at Grade 6 (£28,660 - £34,189 p.a.) with responsibilities adjusted accordingly. Development from Grade 6 to 7 would be supported with suitable training and clear objectives; it would be expected that progression to Grade 7 would be within 12 months. This would be discussed with applicants at interview/appointment, where appropriate.


This position is offered for 4 years in the first instance. It is a full-time post; part-time hours (minimum 0.7 FTE worked over no fewer than 4 days) would be considered. Any preference to work less than full-time should be indicated in your application.
