Scientific / postdoctoral posts

Job description:

KIT establishes a research focus "Data-intensive correlative material characterization". In order to obtain a complete picture of complex and functional material systems, scale-spanning, correlative and in-situ methods are necessary, which allow high spatial, spectral and temporal resolution. These methods are very data intensive.

You are developing methods for data management with consideration of metadata, for data integration and reduction as well as for intelligent data storage. You also apply methods of machine learning. In addition, you coordinate third-party funded projects, apply for third-party funding, supervise Ph.D. students (m/f/d) and present the results in scientific journals and at international conferences.

You have a university degree (Master) in the field of physics or applied computer science with a doctorate. In addition, you have several years of practical experience in the field of microscopic and spectroscopic characterization, and in translating experimental results into sustainable information through appropriate algorithms. Knowledge in physical characterization methods, as well as a sound knowledge of physics and computer science and good command of spoken and written English are required. Experience in micro and nanotechnology as well as knowledge in the structure of data repositories are desirable.
