Institute for Diabetes and Obesity
Area of research:
Scientific / postdoctoral posts
As German Research Center for Environmental Health, Helmholtz Zentrum München pursues the goal of developing personalized medical approaches for the prevention and therapy of major common diseases such as diabetes mellitus, allergies and lung diseases. To achieve this, it investigates the interaction of genetics, environmental factors and lifestyle.
The Research Unit in Functional Genomics of Mitochondria, headed by Dr. Fabiana Perocchi, is looking for a highly talented and motivated computational biologist to join the Institute for Diabetes and Obesity (IDO) of the newly established Helmholtz Diabetes Center (HDC) in Munich. We aim at reconstructing mitochondrialsignaling networks that generate in response to physiological and pathophysiological stimuli. Although a mitochondrial role in signal transduction has been suggested, it is still a mystery how the organelle senses, deciphers, and responds to intracellular and extracellular signals. To this goal, we combine systems biology approaches (genome-wide loss-of-function screens, proteomics, comparative genomics, and metabolomics) with traditional genetic, biochemical, and physiological techniques applied to yeast, mouse models, human cell lines and patient samples.Postdoc (m/f/d)
