The candidates will participate in research projects related to novel modes of ion channel and transporter regulation in the CNS and other tissues. One position will involve mechanistic studies of ion channel physiology and regulation and will require prior training and experience in single-channel patch-clamp electrophysiology and mammalian cell culture and heterologous expression of ion channels. The second position will focus on understanding novel modes of ion channel regulation in the CNS and will require prior training and experience in brain slice preparation and electrophysiological recording. For the second position, prior experience in mouse colony maintenance, transgenic mouse genetics and genotyping, and molecular biology will be advantageous but is not essential. The positions each require a Ph.D. in biological or biomedical sciences and/or M.D. from an accredited university. The prospective postdoctoral scholars will work with Professor Geoffrey Abbott (for more information see https://www.faculty.uci.edu/profile.cfm?faculty_id=5869).
