This exciting opportunity has arisen in the Schools of Chemistry as a Research Associate to work on the development and application of next-generation virtual reality-enabled scientific simulation technology in the Intangible Realities Laboratory (IRL).

Dr David Glowacki and Prof Dek Woolfson are seeking to appoint a talented research software engineer to manage day-to-day research and software activities within the IRL and also to support Narupa, our open-source, community focussed VR-enabled real-time molecular simulation framework. The candidate should have a strong background in molecular simulation and computer science, as well as experience is supporting other researchers (e.g., PhDs & post-docs) in accomplishing VR-related research objectives.

In this exciting role, you will collaborate with several individuals across the University beyond the IRL, including Professor Dek Woolfson and his group, who are looking to adapt Narupa to support synthetic biology research through interface with their software programme ISAMBARD, as well as Professor Adrian Mulholland and his group, who wish to adapt and apply Narupa to mapping biomolecular conformational dynamics, including drug-ligand binding.

You will also work with us to engage a wide group of international collaborators who have begun to participate in the open-source Narupa project, carrying out software maintenance, including engaging with the open-source code forums, bug reporting, issue tracking, code reviews, documentation, and testing.
