A postdoctoral fellow position in translational bioinformatics is immediately available in the Dr. Winston Hide’s research group at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Our laboratory performs translational precision medicine approaches in complex disease systems. We discover and prioritize candidate therapeutics such as genes, noncoding RNAs, pathways, processes and the genomic variants, systems and molecules that regulate them. We use best practice approaches, powerful compute, and work with great scientists here are the Harvard Initiative in RNA medicine to tame the complexity of deriving causal basis of disease.
The successful applicant will exploit the potential of novel noncoding RNAs as potential biomarkers and precision therapeutics and incorporate them into drug–gene, disease–gene, drug–disease, and pathway– gene interaction sets that are part of a growing pathway-drug network that accurately and effectively predicts drugs that will prevent disease. Building and applying new methods to create precision medicines, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of therapeutics directly applicable to Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s’ and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Qualifications: Applicants must have computational training with an emphasis on networks and data integration. A sound knowledge of statistics, experience in translational bioinformatics, drug discovery or target prioritization is an advantage. A minimum of a year’s post-doctoral experience preferred. Good publications, strong communication skills, and excellent writing skills are essential. A PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational drug discovery, systems biology and/or data integration or a closely related field is required. Strong programming and data analysis skills are essential.
Appointments are initially for up to two years, with the option of extension based on funding availability and performance. Stipends are commensurate with research experience and education.
