The Institute of Organic Chemistry at the Justus Liebig University offers within the DFG-funded program “Synthesis and Characterization of Functionalized Diamondoids and Heterodiamondoids“ a fulltime position for a
as of now for the duration of three years. In agreement with the current legislation, the position is remunerated according to “Entgeltgruppe 13 Tarifvertrag Hessen (TV-H)”.
Research activities within the framework of the research project name above. In detail, this includes:
- Preparation of organic white light-emitting materials based on functionalized and / or substituted diamondoid core structures to control the emission properties.
- Organic synthesis, in particular by directed C-H functionalization of aliphatic hydrocarbons and their spectroscopic characterization (NMR, IR, UV, MS, etc.).
- Particle sizing is used to identify useful candidates for subsequent physical measurements (in other FOR 2824 groups). The new molecules and materials will also be investigated by computational (density functional theory) methods to determine the effects of heteroatoms and functional groups on HOMO-LUMO energies, polarities, and spin distributions (in the case of radicals).
You have successfully completed your scientific higher education in chemistry and you own a doctoral degree in organic chemistry. Desirable are relevant organic chemical synthesis experience, especially with hydrocarbons. Excellent knowledge in NMR spectroscopy. Experience in the computation of molecular properties using density functional methods.
The Justus-Liebig University Giessen strongly encourages female scientist to apply for this position. As a family-friendly higher education institution, the Justus-Liebig University Giessen particularly welcomes applicants with children.
Please send your application (no e-mail) stating the applications number 147/08 with the usual documents until February 14th, 2019 to Prof. Dr. Peter R. Schreiner, PhD, Institute of Organic Chemistry, Heinrich-Buff-Ring 17, 35392 Giessen, Germany. Applicants with disabilities but otherwise equal qualifications will be preferred.
