A postdoctoral position is funded to study the effect of cellular senescence on stem cell aging and cancer. The Peng Lab (https://penglab.squarespace.com) is a dynamic and growing laboratory that is part of the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UCSF, and we have developed several novel and unpublished tools to study cellular senescence in vivo in numerous cellular contexts. Although the focus of our lab is on adult tissue regeneration, applicants with developmental biology background are strongly encouraged to apply. The project will use sophisticated mouse genetic tools to characterize senescence in vivo, and dissect the role of senescence in modulating stem cell aging and malignant transformation. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop new genetic models, apply single-cell sequencing technology, and utilize CRISPR/Cas9 tools for her/his studies. Experience in maintaining mouse colonies with complex genetic background, cell and molecular biology as well as flow cytometry are preferable. A cost-of-living stipend will be added to the base UC Postdoc salary scale for successful candidate.
