Graduate School IRTG 1123 – Atherosclerosis & Institute for Cardiovascular Prevention, LMU offers
PhD Positions Cardiovascular Research (m/f/d)
Several PhD positions are available to study the mechanisms and networks of novel therapeutic targets in atherosclerosis. Using mouse models of atherosclerosis as well as human biobanks, the PhD students will interrogate the cell-specific and systemic effects of key players in atherogenesis and atheroprogression. This requires a broad methodological spectrum ranging from molecular and cellular biology tools and physiological in-vivo approaches to complex bioimaging applications. The PhD students will be enrolled in the Integrated Graduate School of SFB 1123 (www.sfb1123.med.uni-muenchen.de/index.html) that offers a three-year structured PhD program to obtain a PhD in Medical Research.
Eligible candidates should have experience with mouse models, immunological and molecular biological techniques, a strong motivation and team spirit. German language skills would be helpful but not required, whereas solid English skills written and spoken (EU level B2 or equivalent) are mandatory. The successful candidate should hold an above-average master degree in biological sciences or related fields.
The PhD students will work in an international environment with excellent infrastructure. We offer a structured training program consisting of advanced methodological courses with a major focus on bioimaging tools, basic principle and soft skills seminars, lecture series, and annual retreats. The positions are fully funded for a total duration of three to four years, according to the DFG guidelines.
The University welcomes and encourages interest from handicapped candidates. Presentation and traveling costs can unfortunately not be refunded.
