The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,328 – £42,701 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The post holder will be an active member of a multidisciplinary team of basic human neuroscientists, statisticians and clinical investigators whose research focuses on the development of pain and somatosensory processing in the preterm human brain. They will be expected to produce independent, original contributions to the understanding of the development of cortical pain network in the preterm human brain through analysis of EEG and (f)MRI data using existing and novel biomedical signal processing techniques. They will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs and project students.
The post is funded by the Medical Research Council until 30/10/2022 in the first instance.
The successful candidate must have a PhD (or be studying towards it) in medical physics or bioengineering, computational neuroscience, applied maths or statistics, or subject related to analysis of brain activity and anatomy. Proven knowledge of EEG, (f)MRI and/or other brain imaging methods, demonstrable knowledge of neuroscience and brain function, experience in the analysis of EEG and (f)MRI data AND experience in MATLAB are Essential Criteria.
Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (Salary £30,922 – £32,607 per annum, including London Allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).
