The Faculty of Natural Sciences I – Life Sciences at the Martin-Luther-University (MLU) Halle-Wittenberg invites applications for the following professorial appointment in the Institute of Biology, Department of Genetics:
W2 – Professorship in Molecular Genetics
We seek to appoint as soon as possible an outstanding and internationally recognized scientist in the discipline of molecular genetics. The applicant should be a leading figure in the research field of genome organisation, regulation of gene expression, or information processing through macromolecular structures, and is expected to make use of an established genetic model system in their research. The interdisciplinary, mechanistic, and quantitative project should expand the research strengths of the faculty on the Weinberg Campus and have the potential to form new collaborative networks within the MLU and its affiliated research institutes.
The successful candidate will be expected to have experience in conducting independent scientific research and in undergraduate and graduate education.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in molecular genetics. Active participation in academic and administrative duties within the University is expected, as highlighted in the Hochschulgesetz Sachsen-Anhalt (§ 34 HSG-LSA).

The salary and benefits will be based on the qualifications of the successful candidate and will be defined by the legal and budgetary constraints of the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the State of Saxony-Anhalt. Unfortunately, travel and subsistence costs associated with this application cannot be reimbursed.
