About the role:

The Clinical and Experimental Pharmacology Group (CEP) aims to enhance clinical trials of new anticancer therapies through biomarker research. An exciting opportunity is available for a Scientific Officer 2 to join the CEP Group and Manchester Centre for Cancer Biomarker Sciences (MCCBS), who are conducting multidisciplinary translational research, to contribute to their on-going efforts towards personalised medicine for cancer patients. 

We are seeking a Scientific Officer 2 to work within our Pre-Clinical Pharmacology Team (~20 members) to undertake a laboratory manager’s role. You will manage tasks including purchasing, budget handling, equipment maintenance, maintaining the cell line biobank, liaising with external companies and resolving lab related issues to ensure the smooth running of team. Time-permitting, the post holder will also carry out routine tissue culture and molecular biology tasks to support on-going projects within the team.

About you:

You should have a BSc degree (or equivalent) in Biological Sciences or related subject (or equivalent relevant experience) and you should have some experience of laboratory management. You will also have excellent communication and organisational skills. Experience in general mammalian and primary tissue culture techniques is desirable.
