The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With approximately 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.
Together with university partners at seven renowned partner sites, we have established the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK).

The DKTK/DKFZ Research Group led by Dr. Henner Farin at the Georg-Speyer-Haus (Frankfurt) is inviting applications for a motivated researcher to study patient-specific drug responses in colon cancer. The project builds up on concerted efforts at Georg-Speyer-Haus and the University Cancer Center (UCT) Frankfurt, where a living biobank of tumor organoids has been established and characterized by whole exome and transcriptome sequencing.
We are searching for a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow for a project that is funded by the Frankfurt Cancer Institute for 1 year with option for extension. The researcher will be responsible for setting up a semi-automated drug screening platform to characterize established colon cancer organoids. 3D co-culture models with primary fibroblasts will be performed to study drug resistance mechanisms. The researcher will develop assays, analyze and integrate data generated at the Genomics & Proteomics Core Facility at the DKFZ in Heidelberg and manage the collaboration with local, national and international partners. We offer a highly innovative project and intensive training in a dynamic, international research team.
Requirements are a valid master’s degree in life science, a PhD degree and previous experience in pharmacology and/or tumor biology. Expertize in mammalian cell culture (stem cells/ 3D cultures/ primary cells) is mandatory, and interest in bioinformatics (R programming), and a theoretical background in genome, transcriptome and/or proteome analysis are highly desired. Successful candidates should be well-organized, have a goal-oriented work attitude and team working skills.
