Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 with a discretionary range to £43,267 p.a.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Bioinformatics Research Software Engineer to join the Oxford Biomedical Data Science Training Programme. You will be a team-player who will have a key role in the development and maintenance of novel computational biology software, and training biomedical scientists in software development.
At the MRC WIMM Centre for Computational Biology (CCB), we work alongside scientists and clinicians to realise the potential of big data in biology by exploiting complex information to make discoveries that benefit human health. The CCB encompasses an international team of over 40 computational biologists, working closely with 500 lab-based scientists and clinicians.
You will be educated to MSc or higher degree level in computing, computational biology or a related scientific subject. Experience of software development in Python and software engineering including version control and testing (e.g. Git, GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket, Pytest) are essential. You will have experience of training/teaching others and using High Performance Computing approaches.
The position is available fixed-term for 3 years, funded by a Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) Award and the OBDS Training Programme.
