A postdoctoral fellowship is available in the Cardiovascular Research Institute at the University of California San Francisco in the laboratory of Dr. Kamran Atabai. The laboratory is focused on investigating the mechanisms underlying resolution of tissue fibrosis leading to regeneration of normal tissue architecture and function. The applicant will utilize basic methodology in cellular and molecular biology and functional genomics to investigate this area both in vitro and in vivo models of fibrotic disease. Ideal candidates will look to be the primary driver of their research project with frequent input from the principal investigator.

Requirements: highly motivated candidates who have recently completed a PhD (within two years) or MD and who have experience with basic techniques of cellular and molecular biology are optimal for the position. Experience with single cell RNA sequencing is preferred. Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be seeking rigorous and thorough training that will lead to an independent career in academia or industry. The postdoctoral fellow will interact frequently with collaborators in the research program with the expectation that she/he will contribute intellectually to the research environment of the laboratory.
