The salary will be paid at Grade 7, £45,259 – £49,115 per annum inclusive of £3,223 London Weighting Allowance per annum
This post will be a fixed-term contract for 3 years. This is a full-time post.
The purpose of this role is to develop new animal models to permit the mechanistic study of cancer and its integral microenvironment, including but not limited to immune cells: the so-called “Cancer Metropolis”. This a key function in the CRUK-supported Cancer Centre, where state-of-the-art investigations of clinical samples and other materials are being used to implicate molecules and pathways in regulating the “Cancer Metropolis”, and thereby disease progression. The development of bespoke models using CRISPR and other forms of mouse transgenesis will permit hypotheses to be tested mechanistically, and candidate interventions to be assayed. The candidate will be based in the newly formed Centre for Inflammation Biology and Cancer Immunology (CIBCI) and be supervised by Adrian Hayday, Kay Glendinning Professor of Immunobiology and Deputy Director of the CRUK King’s Cancer Centre. However, their research focus is expected to develop in association with one or more of several Cancer Centre groups desiring model systems. In support of their efforts, the successful applicant can anticipate opportunities to interact with several individuals practising state-of-the-art genome modification, and should benefit from substantive co-authorship of papers resulting from their efforts.
