Apply to join our interdisciplinary PhD program in the life sciences. Structural biology and biochemistry, biophysics, bioinformatics and computational biology, molecular biology and cell biology, developmental biology and genetics, microbiology and microbiome science, evolution and ecology are the research fields brought together by the expertise and facilities of over twenty participating research groups. Together we want to endow the next generation of scientists with the skills and knowledge to study complex biological processes that cannot be adequately understood within the limits of a single discipline.
We are located in Tuebingen, a hotspot for science and research in southwest Germany. Around 50 young scientists currently participate in our program; around a third come from Germany, the rest from around the world. We offer:
- Cutting-edge research projects and excellent facilities
- Full funding through contracts
- Structured support through a personal thesis advisory committee
- Supporting curriculum with many optional courses
- International environment with English as the working language
- Personal assistance with relocation
Applicants should hold, or expect to hold, a Masters or equivalent degree in natural or computer science. Your skills and knowledge should match well to your proposed area of doctoral research. To start in September 2019, all degree work must be finished by September 1, 2019. Excellent spoken and written English is required. Applicants with degrees obtained outside the European Higher Education Area should supply scores from the GRE General Test.
