The Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Aarhus University, invites applications for a 1-year postdoc position (with opportunity to extend for 6 months) offering applicants an exciting opportunity to join a new collaborative research project between Aarhus University and Michigan University on the development of an oral formulation for treatment of phenylketonuria.

Job description
The postdoctoral candidate needs to be willing to work at the interface of material science and protein engineering. Project involves the design of a new formulation for the oral delivery an engineered enzyme to intestines to treat a genetic disorder. Expertise in protein manipulation, protein folding and/or drug delivery an asset. Work will be carried out both in Denmark and in the USA.

Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in biomedical engineering, molecular biology, structural biology, protein physics/chemistry or similar.

You must have:

  • Substantiated experience with protein expression and manipulation including the relevant characterization methods is crucial
  • Basic experience in colloidal science is beneficial
  • Peer-reviewed publications in the field are beneficial
  • The successful applicant needs to be able to work as part of an international research team
  • Fluent written and oral communication in English is required.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. Formalities and salary range
Science and Technology refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.
