A computational biologist position is available in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (Miami, Florida) to investigate the molecular mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of normal cells and cancers. Some of the groups research focus includes enhancer biology and integrator function (Orom et al, Cell 2010; Lai et al, Nature 2015); epigenetics of normal and malignant hematopoiesis (Figueroa et al, Cancer Cell 2010; Meldi et al, JCI 2015; Glass et al, Cancer Discovery 2017) and, Polycomb regulation in stem cell and cancer (Morey et al, Cell Stem Cell 2012; Morey et al, Cell Stem Cell 2015; Chan et al, Nat Comm 2018).

We are currently seeking a highly-motivated candidate with a background in genome-wide data analysis/computational biology to study the role of epigenetic regulation in normal and malignant cancer. Projects will include next-generation sequencing based profiling studies of DNA methylation, hydroxymethylation, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, chromosome conformation capture technology, RNA-seq and Pro-seq to fully characterize epigenetic changes during cancer progression. The goal of these studies is to identify epigenetically regulated programs that become deregulated during malignancies. Applicants should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and have strong computational biology skills. Previous experience with epigenome-wide assays is preferred.

It is expected that the candidate will have the ability to work independently, collect and tabulate data, publish and present results, as well as to participate in the training of graduate students in a research laboratory setting.


M.D. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics or computational biology. Experience in a research laboratory setting. Evidence of scholarly ability (record of publication in peer-reviewed journals, etc.) Ability to communicate in written and spoken English is absolutely required.
