Beamline Scientist / Senior Beamline Scientist, Beamline I06
Diamond Light Source
£33,297 – £39,172 per annum (Discretionary range to £45,048), or £42,931 – £50,507 per annum (Discretionary range to £58,083) for the Senior level
We have an opening for a Senior Beamline Scientist/Beamline Scientist to work in the area of polarised soft x-ray spectroscopy and/or microscopy. The research for the beamline is focussed on magnetism and quantum materials. We encourage applications from candidates with experience in X-Ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD), X-Ray Magnetic Linear Dichroism (XMLD), Soft X-Ray Resonant Diffraction (SXRD) and or Soft X-ray Magnetic Holography.
Beamline I06 uses an intense X-ray beam (80eV-2100eV) to study magnetic phenomena using XMCD, XMLD and SXRD. The successful applicant will be responsible for the branchline of I06 (which houses a superconducting magnet and SXRD diffractometer) and its development including co-ordinating equipment and software upgrades. The beamline is part of the Magnetic Materials Group within Diamond and has close links with I10, I16 and I21 which concentrate on XMCD, Hard X-ray Diffraction and Resonant Inelastic X-Ray Scattering (RIXS).
