Hamburg is implementing an inter-university strategy to strengthen informatics and computer science in the context of digitalization. intensifies cooperation in informatics education, research, and technology transfer between Universität Hamburg, the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW), the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH), and HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU).

We seek a scientist with an outstanding international track record, covering the fields of computer networks and information security in research and teaching.

The successful candidate is expected to teach and conduct research in the field of computing networks, with a particular focus on network security. We seek someone with a proven track record of international publications and research in the field of secure and modern network technologies specializing in, for example, the following topics: resilient, heterogenic, mobile, and dynamic networks; P2P networks; distributed algorithms; malware and botware identification. Reference to application areas such as critical infrastructures or the secure distribution of sensitive data in transport, seaport, aviation, or social media contexts is desirable.

The successful candidate is further expected to actively contribute to existing and future interdisciplinary research projects in the Department of Informatics in the area of information governance technology. Willingness to coordinate the construction of innovative IT infrastructures in the Department of Informatics and manage such projects as scientific head is desirable. This will entail cooperation with other research groups in the Department and research groups participating in interdisciplinary projects at Universität Hamburg.

Furthermore, we expect active participation in, the cooperation platform for informatics at Hamburg’s higher education institutions.

Section 12 subsection 7 sentence 2 of the Hamburg higher education act (Hamburgisches Hochschulgesetz, HmbHG) applies.

Additional criteria:

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

Applicants should outline their proposed scientific direction for this position in a research proposal. The successful candidate is expected to have very good teaching skills and be prepared to contribute to undergraduate teaching in all degree programs at the Department of Informatics and the instruction of teacher-training students.
Following hearings, selected candidates will be assessed to ascertain skills in the areas of management and human resources.
