Tenured Full or Associate Professor in Experimental Nano-Optics

Georgia State University

Atlanta, GA, United States

The Center for Nano-Optics (CeNO) and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Georgia State University (GSU) are seeking to fill a faculty position with tenure at the Associate Professor or Full Professor level in experimental nano-optics and nanoplasmonics. Applicants from both the US and abroad, and from all social backgrounds, are invited to apply. Georgia State University is a “majority-minority” institution, with one of the most ethnically diverse student bodies in the nation; the Department of Physics and Astronomy has a strong commitment to increasing the diversity of its faculty members, and especially encourages applications from persons of underrepresented minorities in the physical sciences, including women, African-Americans, and Latino Americans. A successful applicant will strongly enhance experimental programs in nano-optics at GSU, attract significant extramural funding, and collaborate with other members of CeNO and faculty of the GSU Departments of Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, and Biology, and other GSU units. Candidates for this position must possess a doctorate in Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering and show exceptional research accomplishments, a proven and sustained record of academic recognition, high-impact publications, an excellent history of extramural funding, and a strong commitment to teaching. We are seeking candidates who have received national and international recognition for accomplishments in research and applications in nano-optics and nanoplasmonics including two-dimensional materials, optics of quantum and topological materials, ultrafast optics, and/or related fields. This position carries a highly competitive salary, attractive benefits, and an excellent startup package commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications.
Applications should include 1) a CV, including a publication list, 2) a statement of the candidate’s research interests and how the research complements existing research at GSU, 3) a statement of teaching experience and philosophy, and 4) contact information for at least three references. All materials should be submitted via email to PhySearch@phy-astr.gsu.edu to the attention of Dr. Sebastien Lepine, Chair, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA 30303. Questions regarding the position can be addressed to Dr. Mark Stockman, Director of CeNO and Distinguished University Professor, at mstockman@gsu.edu. The position will remain open until filled. An offer of employment will be conditional on background verification. Georgia State University, a unit of the University System of Georgia, is an equal opportunity educational institution and an EEO/AA employer.
