The lab of Dr. Michael A. Dyer is seeking a highly-accomplished and driven Staff Scientist. Dr. Dyer serves as the Chair of the Developmental Neurobiology Department, the Co-Leader of the Developmental Biology & Solid Tumor Program, and the Principal Investigator with joint appointment at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His research focuses on retina development and the coordination of proliferation and differentiation during neurogenesis as well as the study of retinoblastoma and other pediatric solid tumors. Specifically, this role will work to support molecular and cellular research focused on understanding cellular pliancy in retinal development and disease. A significant aspect to this project will be the development of an epigenetic toolkit that guides epigenetic factors to important developmental/stress-related genes.

To be a successful Staff Scientist in the Dyer Lab, you will respond well to a busy and dynamic lab environment and possess the skills to diligently manage both experiments and training personnel within the laboratory. You are expected to have expertise in cell culture, CRISPR-Cas9, mouse colony management, next generation sequencing, ChIP-seq, and molecular biology skills. You will possess strong organizational skills and not only keep the lab organized and running efficiently, but determine what supplies are needed to complete projects, manage work schedules of technicians, assist in writing protocols for experiments, and maintain standard operating procedures within the lab. Additionally, you will seek opportunities to bring new technology and techniques into the lab and always strive to utilize unique and advanced skills to assist the PI in achieving the laboratory’s research and publication goals.

Minimum Education

• A Ph.D. in an appropriate scientific field is required

Minimum Experience

• A minimum of five (5) years of relevant and productive (combined) years postdoctoral research associate or five (5) years of combined academic experience at the postdoctoral level or above.
