A Post Doctoral Fellowship position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Zachary Schug at The Wistar Institute, an NCI-designated Cancer Center. The Schug lab has a strong interest in understanding how hypoxia and nutrient stress in the tumor microenvironment impacts tumor metabolism, therapy resistance, and metastasis. Applicants should therefore have a strong background in the fields of cancer cell biology and metabolism. Candidates who have handled mouse colonies or have experience in small animal surgery and/or catheterization are especially encouraged to apply. Experience in stable isotope tracing (carbon-13, nitrogen-15) and LC-MS based metabolomics and lipidomics would be an added plus but is not required. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and be able to work both independently and in a collaborative scientific environment. The candidate should also be self-motivated and have a strong work ethic. The successful candidate will be trained in multiple research disciplines including metabolism, cell signaling, and biochemistry and will learn how to apply different state-of-the-art technologies (metabolomics, lipidomics, transcriptomics) to the study of cancer.
Applicants should also have recently received a Ph.D., or similar degree.
Curriculum Vitae and three references should be sent to: Dr. Zachary T Schug, The Wistar Institute, 3601 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or via email to email@example.com. Applicants are also encouraged to apply online by visiting http://www.wistar.org/the-institute/employment.
