Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work under the supervision of Professor Ben Davis on a research project funded by Lab282 for a period of 12 months. The project involves work at the interface of chemistry and biology that will explore new therapeutic strategies. The work will require experience of sugar chemistry and/or protein chemistry and/or bioorganic chemistry and/or enzymology and/or molecular biology and/or microbiology. Experience in antibiotic development would be helpful.
You should be able to adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols. You should be able to test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You should be able to represent the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone. You should have recent experience of sugar chemistry and/or protein chemistry and/or bioorganic chemistry and/or enzymology and/or molecular biology and/or microbiology.
Please note you should have a PhD in chemistry, chemical biology or biochemistry, or a related area (or be near completion prior to taking up the appointment).
The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Oxford.
