Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Synthetic Supramolecular Chemistry to work under the supervision of Dr Matthew Langton on a research project funded by The Royal Society for a period of up to 12 months. The project involves the synthesis of synthetic supramolecular systems that function within lipid bilayer membranes, and can be controlled using external stimuli.

The role will involve multistep organic synthesis and characterisation, host-guest binding studies, and analytical experiments on vesicle-based systems. You should hold a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry or a related area (or near completion prior to taking up the appointment). The candidate should have extensive expertise in multi-step organic synthesis and characterisation of complex molecules. The candidate should have experience in organic chemistry and experience in supramolecular chemistry would also be desirable. You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities, to supervise other team and lab activities when asked and to coordinate work to meet specified deadlines.

The post will be based in the Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, OX1 3TA and is available from 1 April 2019, or as soon as possible thereafter.
