Salary: Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.
We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a project to investigate the molecular mechanism of X chromosome inactivation. Key roles will be in vitro and in vivo analysis of the function of the non-coding RNA Xist using advanced imaging technologies.
Applicants should hold a PhD/DPhil, or be near completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject area and have the ability to manage an independent research project, including experimental design, interpretation and presentation of data to colleagues and through publication. You should have sufficient specialist knowledge of RNA biology and a background or strong interest in epigenetics and X chromosome inactivation in order to work within established research programmes. Experience in advanced imaging technologies would be advantageous but is not essential.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by The Wellcome Trust for up to 5 months in the first instance and is based at the Department of Biochemistry, University of Oxford.
The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available. This is unlikely to be more than/will not be less than £33,199 p.a.
