At the Medical Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn the
Full (W3) Professorship for Hygiene and Public Health
is to be filled by October 2019.
Integral part of the professorship is the directorship of the Institute for Hygiene and Public Health. The faculty is seeking a candidate with a high international reputation. The tasks comprise the full representation of the discipline of hygiene in research and teaching as well as in advice on the national and international level.
The ideal candidate should have outstanding achievements in research in the fields of environmental and hospital hygiene (e.g. focus on water), the dissemination of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms in the environment, disinfection and experimental hygiene as well as public health and public global health policies. He/she will work towards integrating aspects of global health into concepts of “hygiene policies” at the national and international level. On the university hospital level, he/she will closely collaborate with the hospital hygiene team.
A willingness to cooperate with the clinics, centres and institutes of the Medical Faculty and with other faculties of the University of Bonn, the United Nations University (UNU) and other national and international institutions is expected.
A scientific integration into the core areas and joint projects of the Medical Faculty is desired, in particular into the German Centre for Infection Research (DZIF) and the Cluster of Excellence ImmunoSensation. Teaching comprises curricular and extracurricular courses in hygiene and public health for the study courses human medicine and dentistry as well as the master study course programmes in microbiology, immunosciences and infection and the newly established course global health – risk management and hygiene policies.
The conditions of employment are an university degree in medicine as well as a habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements according to § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW. Formal post-graduate specialization as a fellow (“Facharzt”) for Hygiene and Enviromental Medicine (“Umweltmedizin”) is a bonus.
