You’re contributing to the development of beam-based systems for monitoring and control of the FAIR accelerator complex.


Develop middle-tier software services implementing semi-automated diagnostics systems and beam-based feedbacks, as well as the corresponding graphical user interfaces.Maintain and upgrade similar existing systems, in close collaboration with the users (operators, equipment specialists, physicists).Assist the users in the use of and participate in standby duty for the operational systems. Optimize the systems’ performance taking into account the users’ feedback.


MS degree or PhD in a related discipline (instrumentation and control, software engineering, computing, computer science, applied physics, or equivalent).Experience with data analysis and digital signal processing.Experience in modern software techniques; sound knowledge of OO principles and software patterns. Demonstrated experience in design and development of modern, multi-layered, distributed software systems.Experience in the development of Java/C++-based software projects.

The position is initially limited to a term of 5 years. Salary is equivalent to that for public employees as specified in the collective agreement for public employees (TVöD Bund).
