The Division of Life Science at the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology is searching for tenure-track faculty members at the Assistant Professor or higher level. Outstanding candidates with research interests in (1) molecular neuroscience; and/or (2) Cryo-EM tomography are encouraged to apply. Preferences will be given to applicants who address fundamental questions in the nervous system; or using cryo-EM tomography to address fundamental biological questions. Together with the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience and the recently acquired suite of state-of-the-art cryo-EM microscopes at the HKUST, the Division aims to further strengthen research capabilities in both of the above areas. The successful candidates are expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research program and to contribute to the missions of the Division in undergraduate and graduate education. A Ph.D. degree and postdoctoral experience are required.
The Division of Life Science (life-sci.ust.hk) currently has 35 faculty members working in diverse research areas. The University has a vibrant research environment and is ranked as one of the top universities in Asia. The medium of instruction and administration is English. The new faculty will be provided with competitive start-up funding.
Starting salary (with full 12-month coverage) will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including medical and dental benefits, annual leave and housing (where applicable). For most candidates, the initial appointment will be a 3-year renewable contract. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of each contract.
