The LUMC human iPSC hotel is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work on the genetic modification and differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Are you the postdoc we are looking for?
As a postdoc you will be part of a team (the LUMC hiPSC hotel) that generates, differentiates and genetically modifies hiPSCs and that has a supportive role towards our customers. Your tasks will involve optimizing and designing gene editing strategies of hiPSCs for the generation of isogenic controls, reporters, knockouts and so on, as part of a service for our customers. This research will include working with state-of-the-art gene-modifying tools, reprogramming vector systems, etc. You will be expected to supervise personnel in coordination with the other team members on a daily basis, as well as organize and convey your expertise and experimental findings.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who:
- has obtained a PhD degree in Biomedical sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a similar field
- possesses solid experience in both molecular and cell biology
- is also experienced in genetic modification, from design to analysis
- preferably has additional experience with CRISPR/Cas9 and culturing of human iPS.
- can work both independently and in a team, and is service-minded
You will be employed on the basis of a 36 hour work week. Appointment is for initially for one year possibly for the duration of the project, extension of three years. The salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 4,321 gross per month based on a full time position (scale 10 of the Collective Labor Agreement for University Hospitals).

The LUMC is a center for medical innovation that aims to improve patient care through leading international research. So as to also provide our patients with a safe and friendly environment, we need doctors, medical care specialists, support staff and academic researchers. The LUMC hiPSC hotel was founded in 2011 and is a joint initiative of the Departments of Anatomy and Embryology (C. Mummery), and Cell and Chemical Biology (R. Hoeben). We are an international team of two postdoctoral fellows, three research technicians, and two daily supervisors. The main goal of the LUMC hiPSC hotel is to provide a state-of-the-art service for the generation, characterization, and genetic modification of hiPSCs. In addition, the LUMC hiPSC hotel guides streamlining of differentiation protocols for research groups within the LUMC. The LUMC focuses on medical innovation to improve patient care through leading international research.
